Why I Give: William Black (’80)

William Black ('80)

I give to the UIC John Marshall Annual Fund, and will continue to do so at an increasing level, because John Marshall benefitted me far more than I will ever be able to give back.

I received an exceptional education in the law and learned what was possible for me. My grandfather, and the scholarships I received, gave me a chance in life, and John Marshall polished and equipped me to succeed beyond anything I could have imagined growing up.

Practicing law with a firm, then starting my own successful law firm, and finally forming and succeeding with two operating businesses of my own — John Marshall has been the indispensable element in my successes. I also met and married my wife of 41 years at John Marshall where she was writing and publishing alumni news.
