Alum Lewis Powell (’89) Recognized For His Lifelong Commitment to Affordable Housing

John Marshall alum and adjunct professor Lewis Powell (’89) was recognized by the Cook County Board of Commissioners for his significant contributions to the African-American community and to the citizens of Cook County. He was presented with a resolution in honor of his long-term service and leadership at the Chicago Bar Association and numerous other civic and community organizations. Powell has taught as an adjunct professor at John Marshall for over twenty years. He was elected president of the Cook County Bar Association in 1994 and has held various positions since that time.

Powell was previously awarded The Cook County Bar Association Centennial Presidential Award and The John Marshall Law School Alumni Association Distinguished Service Award. He currently teaches a course in the Fair Housing Legal Support Center & Clinic.
